Mauvais poil — Charlotte Zolotow & Geneviève Godbout — Hardcover book — 22.7 x 27.4 cm — 32 pages — April 2019 — CAN$19.95

Mr. James forgot to kiss Mrs. James before he left the house this morning. As a result, and because it's raining, Mrs. James is in a very bad mood. She picks on Jonathan, who picks on Sally, who picks on Marjorie, who picks on Eddie, who picks on the dog who... is only thinking about playing! Fortunately, his good mood is as contagious as irritability can be. That’s what the James family learns at its expense. This book offers a modern take on Charlotte Zolotow’s classic text.

Charlotte Zolotow is an American author and publisher. She has written more than 90 books for children. She worked at Harper & Row, where she was a children's publisher from 1938 to 1944 and again from 1962 to 1976. In 1987, she became an editorial consultant and directed her own series. She has received numerous awards for her books.

Geneviève Godbout is an illustrator and designer. After graduating in traditional animation in Montréal, she studied at Gobelins in Paris. She then moved to London, England, and then to Montréal. She has worked as a character designer for the Walt Disney Company and a children's book illustrator for years. Thanks to her favorite mediums, colour pencils and soft pastels, she saw her career flourish in the past few years. Her works were published by The Walt Disney Company, Chronicle Books, Tundra Books, Random House, Harper Collins, Milan Publishing, Comme des géants and La Pastèque. She won the Prix jeunesse des libraires du Québec in 2017 and her work was selected for the Society of Illustrators Original Exhibit in 2017, 2018 and 2019.

“This story was first published in the 1960s. Geneviève Godbout’s illustrations enhance Charlotte Zolotow’s text while maintaining a vintage look. A fresh makeover that will allow a new generation of children to enjoy this fun tale.”
