Beatrix Potter was, among many things, a dedicated author and illustrator. During her youth, she spent a lot of time in the countryside where she draw the animals around her. Her first book, The Tale of Peter Rabbit, originates from illustrated letters that Potter regularly sent to young children. Throughout the following decades, she wrote and illustrated more than twenty books. All her life, nature remained a constant source of love and inspiration.

Leonard Weisgard was an American illustrator and author of children’s books. During his long career, he illustrated more than two hundred books. He frequently collaborated with author Margaret Wise Brown with whom he did fourteen titles. Together, they won the Caldecott Medal in 1947 for their book The Little Island. Weisgard stands out for his generous use of colors and his adoption of varied techniques and mediums.
